Tree planting with Dad

JCAG announces its annual tree planting day at Honeyeater Reserve will be held Sunday 4 September 2022 from 8:30am.

Yes we know it is late in the planting season, yes we know this date is Fathers’ Day, but it is important go ahead with the tree planting as soon as we possibly can. There has been significant earthworks at the site, with new soil brought in to cover the former sodic soil in the Reserve. The wet winter has slowed the delivery and distribution of the soil, and it was important to have the earthmoving trucks off site before tree planting could commence.

Planting will start from 8:30am on Sunday 4 September 2022, or whenever you can get there, we have around 600 trees and shrubs to plant. The day will conclude about midday, or whenever the last tree is planted.

We are aware that it is Fathers’ Day but JCAG is hoping that Fathers and Grandfathers (and Mums and Grandmothers) will bring the kids and have some family time planting trees.

We want everyone to come and support JCAG and make this a great volunteer activity that will help the environment.
Please wear old clothes, sturdy boots or gum boots and if you can bring a shovel or mattock to dig the holes.
